We'll see what happens when I check out the fuel pressure and filter and go from there!

The only other concern was that when I started out, the fuel gauge read 3/4 tank, when I thought it had a full tank to start. At about 1/4 tank, I went to fill up and was only able to put a few gallons in. I thought it odd, and started watching the fuel gauge more closely and it started jumping around all over the place. I filled up just north of Lansing, so I would think I wasn't out of gas, but since the gas gauge or fuel sensor is wonky, maybe I simply ran out of gas, but I have a hard time believing the gas mileage is that terrible.

My father in law wonders if, since the car had been in storage prior to its repair and then it was another 2 months before I was able to get someone to come with me for the round trip to bring the car across the state, perhaps some sediment had developed in the fuel line, and clogged a filter.

I don't have much experience with the Datsun Doctor but several of the folks here like him enough that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the shop.

Eventually, I would like to learn enough about the car to maintain it, myself, like my father did, but I know I have a lot to learn...

I'm running 17x9s with a 245/40/17 tires. Yes I know the dia overall is smaller than stock but these are only going to be used on the track so I don't mind. But anyway on to some photos.

Pics of where the caliper is shaved. I may have to revisit the shaving when I put new pads on when these die as the caliper will space out a bit again so for now I may just put some random paint over it to keep it fresh.

Overall

Top side of carrier

Bottom side of carrier

Caliper face itself

And photos of the wheel on with some front and top shots for fitment.

Also clutch finally started to go so I have on order a Southbend Stg 3 kit and NLS shims. Install should be next week.

Custom Vent gauge pod for the TruBoost

Installed and interior finally put back together.

No photos of the first half of phase 2 which is installing upgrade connecting rod bearings and the 3mm 9:1 CR Headspacer. But that happened then off to a local buddies place for the installation of the IC and piping as well as upgraded exhaust and a few other bits.

First step is to mount the IC. I requested that I was able to retain all the factory side grill plastics as I wanted this to look very OEM from the outside and boardline steath / sleeper mode. Using the TR8C Treadstone intercooler this proved no easy feat as the cooler is very large. So custom ends tanks had to be fabbed.

Installation of new fuel rail and -6 fuel lines.

We also fabbed up a new dp which unfortunately I didn't snag any photos of before it got wrapped and installed so where is a shot of it from the top side.

In addition we fabbed up the hot side piping. It's a nice 2 piece design that's all wiggly to fit around the pullies and up through the back in the firewall/pass side corner. The wrapped part is the pip that comes out of the turbo and runs directly across the top of the turbo/manifold. Figured a quick wrap would help keep the heat out of the pipe. I will also be modifying/making a new heat sheild for on top of the turbo as well.

Catch-can mounted an lines sort of routed where they need to be.

And just a quick shot of the new intake manifold all mounted up.

A few photos of the piping taken by my fabricator. This is of the turbo inlet pipe.

And a current photo of the bay. This is all hooked up and the car has been started to test for any leaks in the systems.

And that's pretty much up to date. The only difference in the bay now is I had time to wrap all the exposed wire with some high heat black wire tape.

I've been really enjoying it over the last year and drive it as much as the weather allows. Future plans right now include swaybars and I'd like to drop in a mildly modded L28 eventually.

Hoping to make one or more of the monthly meets (is it at Buddies or JD's?).

Anyways...onto the pics....

First thing I did (aside from plugs which were changed out when I put on the new head) was swap out the old, possibly 40 year old, coil:
IMAG0747.jpg

...for an MSD Blaster 2 and mount (because honestly, it's the easiest/cheapest place to start):
IMAG0751.jpg

Next it's on to plug wires, a new distributor (there is play in the shaft and is probably where most of the problem lies but I am haing trouble locating one at the moment) and possibly an MSD 6AL unit if I'm feeling ambitious some weekend...
