ZdayZ 2011

2011 ZdayZ:  May 18th – 22nd, 2011

If you missed attending the 2010 ZdayZ event, you missed a hellova great time. We had a small group last year but I think everyone had a great time and will want to be back again. It doesn’t matter if you officially have a Z, G or GT-R; we still had a few folks with “other” makes too. (Ahem, Derek!) All you need is a love for the sports cars, a few days off work and the desire to experience one of America’s top 10 driving roads, the famous “Tail of the Dragon!” (318 curves in 11 miles)

But ZdayZ is so much more than just driving the Dragon. This multi-day event has a little something for everyone. Everything is VERY well organized by Bryan Settle and crew making this one of the top Nissan events of the year. Driver’s come from all over the USA to attend this event.

In 2010, the Michigan Z’s gathered in the early hours on Thursday for the caravan down. Starting with 4 cars in SE Michigan, we arranged to meet up with another Z near Dayton. Organizing with several other Z caravans, we all met up in Lexington, KY and rolled out of there with over 26 cars coming from Minnesota, Ohio and Canada. Check out the videos we put together, click on the photo below.

The GLZC will be attending the 2011 ZdayZ event. We would like to get more 240Z, 260Z, 280Z, Z31 and Z32’s to attend!! This is not limited to Z33’s and Z34’s!
Depending on the club’s decisions, how much volunteering we may do for the ZdayZ staff, we may leave Wednesday (the 17th) or Thursday morning. Trust me, the caravan down and back are serious highlights of the trip. We do the drive in a single day but at a decent pace. (75-80 mph but not enough to get pulled over.) Bring walkie-talkies as we set them to common channels to organize the caravan.
.
A few of us GLZC members have gone together and reserved a cabin. We will need a few members willing to reserve cabins and organize cabin mates. Please post up comments  here if you need someone to share space. Please reserve this on your own. Call Fontana Village if you can not reserve online. Mention ZdayZ so you have access to blocked out units and special rates. We will most likely have a cabin party if we have a large group going down. Let’s show the other national Z Clubs how we do it in Michigan!

Events at ZdayZ:
Check out www.zdayz.com to see the events and descriptions from last year. This will also update you on what’s going on this year.
.
PLEASE REGISTER YOURSELF AT WWW.ZDAYZ.COM TO ATTEND THE EVENT!
.
The registration fee is pretty small and it includes the events organized, prizes, dinner two nights, entertainment, organization of vendors to attend and so forth. These guys pull all this together with no pay or reward for themselves. The least we can do is register and cover the cost to attend.
Even if you don’t know anyone or you want to do things on your own, that’s cool. Contact one of the GLZC officers and we will help answer any questions, make suggestions what cabins or rooms to get if you stay alone or with the GF / Wife. (The Willows cabins are great!) We’ll help introduce you to other members and get you involved.  After all, we can’t EVOLVE as a club unless you get INVOLVED.  Trust me, you will be glad you did this.
.
Zee you there!!!
