Getting into the groove of 2013! It’s time for our third meeting of the year at JD Karting in Novi at 7:00 March 25th. Come on out and say hi to everyone! There may even be some Z’s out if it’s nice.
Topics for the month:
- More event planning and prodding.
- Install party time is coming up! Who has projects?
- MSU Car show 4/21/13
- ZdayZ events
- Is the last Monday meeting working for everyone?
RSVP on the forums for discounted racing!
Happy End of the World Day!
To a Z owner in Southeast Michigan, the sight of snow can make it feel that way! Have no fear! The GLZC will be here into 2013 to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary!
- In the next couple weeks, we’ll post up some details about meets into January and February. January will host the Detroit Auto Show. This is a good time to meet up, we can car pool in our winter rides and attend the show together. Might even think of some entertaining contests to do during the show. (Who can get the most photos of them posing with a model or funniest photo at the show, etc) We’d compare pics at dinner that night and post the winners. …
- We are overdue a trip to Double Action Gun Range. Hopefully we still have guns by late January! (Don’t go too crazy Californian Senators!) We can hit this in January also.
- A new indoor Go Kart track opened in Novi. Looking forward to trying that out! There are tons of great places in walking distance from there to grab a bite and a brew.
- February is the GLZC birthday and general elections. Post up if you are interested in running for office. Main Positions are President, VP, Treasurer, Web Master, Club Secretary. You can volunteer anyway you wish.
Have a very merry and safe holiday season! – Brian May, Club Treasurer
It’s that time again for our monthly meeting!
This month we’ll be having our meeting at the Honeytree next Tuesday, July 24th @ 7pm.
George’s Honey Tree is at the intersection of Northwestern Highway, 14 mile and Orchard Lake Roads. It’s in a strip mall that doesn’t have any other tenants in there. Big lot so we can park together without any potential door dings.
Best way to get there from the East Side – 696 to Northwestern, just past 14 mile on the right. If you hit Orchard Lake Rd, you’ve gone too far.
From the South/West – Orchard Lake North just past 14 mile. Turn right into the Mobil gas station. The driveway continues and connects to the strip mall parking lot. You’ll want to drive around the speed humps by darting into the lot as soon as you can.
From the North – Middlebelt South, turn right on 14 mile. Turn Right on Northwestern Hwy, Almost immediately on your right is the lot. (You can take Orchard Lake instead of Middlebelt but the turnaround situation is a bit rediculous at that intersection).
If you’ve never been, they have great Greek food at a reasonable price. They don’t have alcohol but there’s a Champps across the street.
See you then!
It has been way too long since our last communication. We had some ‘password’ issues that were just recently ironed out. Previous attempts at a monthly meeting were abandoned as the email communications could not go out. So – enough with the excuses..
We’re here to announce plans for the next GLZC Picnic/Meet @ Kensington Park. This will be held Saturday 7/7 at Kensington Metro Park, Lot F. Come one come all.
Please reply or respond to the forum post link if you plan to attend.
We will be having our March meeting on Thursday night (3/22), 7pm @ Scores Bar and Grill:
24365 Halsted Road Farmington Hills, MI 48335-1609
1) Announcing the results of the elections
2) Planning of events
I will also have license plate frames available for purchase at $10 a piece.
Weather should be warming up so maybe we’ll see a few more Z’s come out of hibernation!
As always, don’t forget to join our forums if you haven’t! We have many interesting discussions and post the latest info about the club on there.
This february, the GLZC will celebrate our one year anniversary!
Just who starts a sports car club in the middle of winter anyway??? CraZy Z-Nuts like us!
Come out and join us at 7pm, Thursday night, FEBRUARY 2nd at Scores Bar and Tavern in Farmington Hills! http://www.scoresbar.net
24365 Halsted rd. Farmington Hills, Mi. 48335 (See website for map) It’s right where M5, Grand River and Halsted intersect. From Grand River, go North on Halsted and it’s on your Left.
Great Food. Wings are 40% off on Thursdays
We will gather at 7pm and start our meeting at 7:20.
Our birthday gift to you: Free 2012 Great Lakes Z Club membership to each Z owner that attends the birthday bash. (You will get your member ID card that evening. Does not include decals or magazine subscription. They can be purchased that evening.)
In the next couple weeks, each member will receive a new membership card. For those who just joined and were looking for their card, I apologize for the delay. You will have it soon and I will adjust the expiration date accordingly.
The original concept of the membership cards was noble but not practical. They had to be created online, member photo inserted, copied, pasted, adjusted to fit, printed on a color laser printer, trimmed and layed with the back side image, laminated and then trimmed down again. Oye! I’m tired just thinking about it. The new card are more simple yet still look good. You’ll have to wait to see.
